Embracing Life's Battlefield: Insightful Perspectives on Resilience from Rav Nosson Meir Wachtfogel

Ever wondered why some individuals remain unperturbed by adversities while others crumble at the slightest hint of discomfort? This episode provides an answer, offering a perspective-changing story centered around the respected Rav Nosson Meir Wachtfogel, a revered Mashgiach of Lakewood, who teaches us an invaluable lesson about resilience.

This episode takes you on a rainy day in Lakewood, New Jersey, where Rav Nosson Meir Wachtfogel's response to a simple question about why he doesn't use an umbrella or a raincoat is laced with profound insight. His analogy between life and a battlefield strikes a chord, reminding us that soldiers on a battlefield never shy away from unfavorable conditions. Much like them, we need to face life's challenges head-on, embracing the mindset of a soldier and recognizing that our everyday lives exist within a metaphorical battlefield. You'll understand that the essence of his lesson isn't to abandon your umbrellas and raincoats but to adopt the will and determination of a soldier, regardless of life's rainy days. As we wrap up the episode, you'll be left with an empowering reminder that despite hardships, we always end up victorious on the battlefield of life.

Speaker 1:

You gotta love the long what's a shabbos? The cold winter nights here so much time. We got the heat cranked all the way up here in a motivation congregation studio Before an ice, hopefully. Malavna Malika, quick stop here to tell over a story that I found made a profound impact myself. I hope it will do the same and land on you in the same way. It was a rainy day in Lakewood, new Jersey. This happened quite a while back, second Seder had just finished. All of the Hondas, the Odyssey's Toyota Sienas parked about the Bukhram, the Kaila guys running to the parking lot trying to dodge the raindrops, with umbrellas above their heads, running with their shane coats on their backs, trying to get the least wet as possible, when off in the distance, one of the lions of Lakewood, one of the architects of BMG's Zator greatness, was just walking, simply walking peacefully, not being go-race, not caring very much at all about the rain, just going about his business, caring about his affairs. And one of the Bukhram runs down the block to the great maschiav his name was Ragnoslan Mervacht Feigl and he opens up his umbrella and puts it above the maschiav's head and says Rebbe, what are you doing out here, walking in the rain, without any umbrella, without any raincoat, and the maschiav told him. He said if you ever look at warriors, soldiers dressed on the battlefield, have you ever even once seen them having an umbrella or wearing a raincoat? This is a battlefield out here, the work of the Eight Sahara, the enemy forces. I'm trying to be a soldier. Soldiers don't wear coats with these umbrellas. Now, don't take the wrong message from the story that oh, now you should walk around without a coat and umbrella. It's most definitely not the takeaway, but the takeaway does feel like it should be. A very relatable way you can see the soldiers, all these Israeli soldiers. Have you even seen one picture or video of them fighting in Gaza with umbrellas or raincoats? The takeaway is that we're trying to accomplish great things and make no mistake about the Eight Sahara as the enemy force and we are on the battlefield to accomplish great things, right at that little Nekudas, habahirah, the game of risk to accomplish Real achievements. To our admittance, there's power in this area. To even know that there is an enemy force on the battlefield and that you are a soldier, it's already step one. Know that your body is a machine and you are a soldier. Fight to accomplish terrific things. And even if you do wear a coat in the rain, it might be a smart idea and use an umbrella. Remember, this is a battlefield out here. This is a war and our team, we're always victorious.
