TRASH TALK

Picture this: you're back in 10th grade, on the basketball court, with Coach Trent Baysmore saying, "The best defense is with your mouth!" Strange? Perhaps. But as we dive deeper into the myriad subtleties of the game, we grasp the power of words - how they could disrupt the opponent and push us to excel. The essence isn't just about trash talks on a basketball court but extends to life, following through on our claims, and translating words into action.

On a parallel note, we draw character sketches of biblical figures - Efron and Avraham Avinu. Efron, the 'big talker' with minimal action, and Avraham, the doer who walked the talk. With Chazal's wisdom as our compass, we emphasize the importance of doing more and talking less, warning against the pitfalls of hollow chatter that often leads to unfulfilled plans. So, join us as we walk down Avraham's path, seizing the day and turning our ambitious talks into tangible actions. This is not just an episode; it's an invitation to shift gears and start accomplishing right away.

Speaker 1:

It is the great wisdom of my 10th grade basketball coach. One of his frequent phrases coach Trent Baysmore Shout out to the 10th grade YAC championship basketball team. But anyway, he used to tell us every practice You're all sitting there, I could see it in a circle right in the middle of the court and he said you know, team, remember, when you play defense, but the best defense that you can play is with your mouth. I didn't really know what he was talking about. Frankly, we never knew what he was talking about, but at that time for sure we didn't know what does that mean with your mouth? You can't play defense with your mouth. You got to use your hands, your body, your torso. Then we learned and we discovered that, no, you can talk trash, smack, talk, some call it. You can demoralize the other team and encourage yourselves and literally propel your own squad to victory through the kayak. I remember we used to trap another player in the other corner in the middle of between the game and we would clap and we say blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah in order to kind of disorient the other team. Using the mouth was a skill between the white lines, fair of game. If you're going to talk the talk, you better be able to walk the walk. You talk big but you come up with a big old L, a loss on the record. It's not a good look. This plays a role in our Pireshow, because Efron is a big talker but he does very, very little. In fact he says Efron, what's this money between us? It's nothing. Take the burial plot eventually turns into 400 silver coins, or by Ariyay Kaplan, and Esteler Chumesh tells us that that's around a 40 years salary at the time for a regular going rate. Then he wants it to be paid to him in the form of a visa gift card very spendable, but can't just be. American Express needs to be over lassocher, wow. But Avram Avino, there's no talk, it's all doing. Chazal summarized the difference between the two of them Amor Maat, vasey Arbay. We should speak little and do a lot. Why does it have to be that way? Why can't we also talk a big game, some trash talk, have some fun, walk the walk afterwards. So it should say Amor Maat. No, it should say say a lot, amor Harbay, vasey Harbay, and do a lot. Who cares if you're talking? And Zerizos is the meat of Avram Avino? There's so much to be done. You could talk a big game but then, by definition, you're just not accomplishing. You find some of the great trash talkers, or really the sometimes people that claim to be entrepreneurs, preaching, pontificating about their business ideas, but they've never even had successful endeavors. They don't have a Fortune 500 company. They're big talkers but they never actually were. Usaharbe, avram. There's, frankly, no time for talk. It's Amor Maat. It's just wasting time with all of the glorious opportunities that are available for the taking. So if you choose to talk the talk, then know that you're, by definition, not walking the walk. If you want to follow and Avram Avino's path and take the opportunity and jump right into it, action and start accomplishing today.
