Overview of the Parshas Terumah Haftorah
The Haftarah for this week comes from Melachim (5:26-6:13). The Levush (685) explains the connection to Parshas Terumah:
While the Parsha describes the construction of the Mishkan in the desert, the Haftarah speaks of the construction of the first
Beis HaMikdash in Jerusalem.
The Haftarah describes the enormous workforce Shlomo Hamelech assembled to build the Bais Hamikdash. Eighty thousand workers were in the mountains, and seventy thousand were carrying the stones
to Jerusalem.
At the end of the Haftarah, Hashem tells Shlomo, if you observe and follow my commandments, I will dwell amongst you,
and I will not forsake you.
